Suite th\u00e9matique de son <em>On the Job, <\/em>sorti en 2013 (vous n\u2019\u00eates pas tenu d\u2019avoir vu ce dernier pour comprendre et appr\u00e9cier le pr\u00e9sent film), cette plong\u00e9e dans la corruption du syst\u00e8me politique et m\u00e9diatique phillipin parvient, comme ses illustres mod\u00e8les, \u00e0 transcender l\u2019exercice du polar mafieux pour en faire une vrai saga \u00e9pique d\u2019une dur\u00e9e exc\u00e9dant les trois heures.<\/p>\n<p>Narciso \u201cSisoy\u201d Salas est une vedette de la radio qui a commenc\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re dans un quotidien frondeur qu\u2019il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 avec son ami Arnel Pangan, avec qui il est en froid depuis que Sisoy s\u2019est li\u00e9 d\u2019amiti\u00e9 \u00e0 Pedring Eusebio, le maire de la Paz, importante municipalit\u00e9 des Philippines. En filigrane de\u00a0 l\u2019enqu\u00eate sur les huit disparus, c\u2019est un tir \u00e0 boulet rouge sur le gouvernement phillipin auquel le.la spectateur.trice assiste. Erik Matti est d\u2019ailleurs moins int\u00e9ress\u00e9 par le myst\u00e8re (le.la spectateur.trice sait imm\u00e9diatement ce qui est arriv\u00e9 aux <em>missing 8<\/em>) que par la description m\u00e9thodique du syst\u00e8me carc\u00e9ral phillipin, du crime organis\u00e9 et, surtout, du travail d\u2019investigation journalistique, fortement compromis par la mainmise des gens d\u2019influence du pays.<\/p>\n<p>Face \u00e0 la complexit\u00e9 d\u2019une telle entreprise, Matti s\u2019en sort admirablement en tirant toutes les bonnes le\u00e7ons du cin\u00e9ma de Scorsese, faisant presque oublier sa dur\u00e9e pachydermique (3 h 28 tout de m\u00eame\u2026) en usant de tout le dynamisme de sa mise en sc\u00e8ne. Utilisation de tubes pop (Ne cherchez plus, on tient la meilleure utilisation de <em>We gotta get out of this Place<\/em>), plans s\u00e9quences acrobatique, <em>split screens<\/em>, montage expert, la mise en sc\u00e8ne d&rsquo;Erik Matti est proprement impressionnante mais, h\u00e9las, peut-\u00eatre un peu\u00a0 trop prisonni\u00e8re de ses influences. En effet, <em>On the Job 2: The Missing 8<\/em> peine dans sa premi\u00e8re haure \u00e0 trouver sa propre voix. Qu&rsquo;\u00e0 cela ne tienne, l&rsquo;\u0153uvre d\u2019Erik Matti demeure un film extr\u00eamement bien ficel\u00e9, profond et exigeant servi par des interpr\u00e8tes de qualit\u00e9 et une
