Dans la banlieue de Queens, un jeune black solitaire \u00e0 la manie h\u00e9matophage passe ses vacances d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 consommer des livres et films de vampires ainsi que des documentaires sanguinaires. Mais pas de dialogue ridiculement kitsch ni de vampire qui brille, m\u00eame pas de musique accompagne le r\u00e9cit. Ce film \u00e9tabli une romance na\u00efve et touchante dans un lieu hostile, propice aux pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s de d\u00e9linquance et aux meurtres.<\/p>\n<p>Son travail de suggestion demande de la r\u00e9flexion de la part de son public. Il s\u2019oublie un soir dans la boisson et provoque un voyou \u00e0 qui il exprime le d\u00e9sir de tuer son beau-p\u00e8re. Le lendemain, le dit voyou d\u00e9barque chez lui, confrontant le protagoniste \u00e0 la d\u00e9cision de passer \u00e0 l\u2019acte.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque l\u2019on est devant une bifurcation, il n\u2019y a habituellement pas possibilit\u00e9 de se d\u00e9doubler et de suivre les deux chemins en m\u00eame temps. <em>Detour<\/em> prend ce d\u00e9fi sc\u00e9naristique en main et pr\u00e9sente le d\u00e9roulement des \u00e9v\u00e9nements suite aux diff\u00e9rents choix du protagoniste. Divis\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois entre thriller psychologique et roadtrip, c\u2019est une \u0153uvre ing\u00e9nieuse \u00e0 l\u2019esth\u00e9tique l\u00e9ch\u00e9e qui ne laisse aucun d\u00e9tail au hasard. L\u2019emploi de split-screen est ici tout \u00e0 fait ad\u00e9quat et justifi\u00e9, d\u00e9sorientant le spectateur \u00e0 plusieurs reprises.<\/p>\n<p><em>Detour<\/em> innove par sa narration, divertit par son impr\u00e9visibilit\u00e9 et inqui\u00e8te par son suspense. Beaucoup compareront ce pitch avec <em>Warm Bodies<\/em>, qui m\u00eale \u00e9galement romance et com\u00e9die avec cadavres ambulants, mais c\u2019est l\u00e0 le seul point commun avec <em>Miruthan<\/em>. Ce n\u2019est ni un film d\u2019anticipation ni une m\u00e9taphore de la discrimination, mais bel et bien un long-m\u00e9trage premier degr\u00e9 sans autre enjeu que la survie des protagonistes.<\/p>\n<p>Pour ne pas trop d\u00e9router les spectateurs habitu\u00e9s aux sc\u00e8nes de musique et de danse, <em>Miruthan<\/em> contient des chansons soft m\u00e9tal indiennes interpr\u00e9t\u00e9es pendant les grandes sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action. Kitsch \u00e0 tout casser et \u00e0 l\u2019humour facile, il ne se prend pas au s\u00e9rieux et brise parfois le quatri\u00e8me mur. Avec des effets sp\u00e9ciaux et une trame narrative misant sur la d\u00e9mesure, ce film aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 nanardesque s\u2019il n\u2019avait pas eu de budget aussi
